RemoteVU (Remote Desktop) is a simple way
to remotely access and control your PC / Mac from your iPhone
/ iPad / iPod Touch within a local network or Wi-Fi. Watch
videos, play flash games, take complete control over files,
programs and other resources from the remote computer and
work on them, as if you were sitting in front of your PC /
Mac.

How do I install and use RemoteVU (Remote Desktop)?
After you have purchased the RemoteVU (Remote
Desktop) application from the App store and installed it on
your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch, the RemoteVU icon will be
displayed on your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch's home screen
along with other application icons.
You must also download the free RemoteVU Host application and run it on your PC / Mac.

What is the RemoteVU Host application?
RemoteVU Host is the application that must
be installed on the PC / Mac that you wish to
access remotely from your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch over
the local network or Wi-Fi. |

What are the different states of the ‘Host’ application?
The two states of the 'Host' application are:
Enabled
If the RemoteVU Host is enabled, it will allow the user to access
the remote PC / Mac within the local network or over Wi-fi.
Disabled
If RemoteVU Host is disabled, it will not allow the user to access
the remote PC / Mac within the local network or over Wi-fi.
Note: Right click on the tray icon
to select ‘Enable RemoteVU’ / ‘Disable RemoteVU’.

After logging into RemoteVU
(Remote Desktop) application on the iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch,
it does not show my host PC / Mac. Why?
This may happen due to the following reasons:
- If you have not installed RemoteVU Host to the PC / Mac
you wish to access remotely
- The host computer may be in ‘Disable’ state. To enable
the host PC / Mac, right click on the tray icon and select
‘Enable RemoteVU’
- The Firewall setting of the host PC / Mac may not allow
you to view it over the iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch. Configure
the Firewall setting on host PC / Mac to allow access. For
this, enter the following Executables and Ports:

In case you are still facing the issue, add
your host PC / Mac manually. Tap on the "+" image
at the top left corner of the application and provide the required
details like PC / Mac name, Password and IP address. |

/ iPad / iPod Touch I see a list of names. What is it?
The RemoteVU (Remote Desktop) app on the
iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch will display a list of PC / Mac
names where RemoteVU Host is installed over the local network
or Wi-Fi.

Can I watch
videos (including flash videos) and movies along with audio
remotely on my iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch?
Yes. Once you install RemoteVU (Remote Desktop) on your iPhone
/ iPad / iPod Touch and install the RemoteVU Host application
on your PC / Mac, you can watch videos and movies (along
with audio) remotely on your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch.

What are the system requirements for using RemoteVU?
For Windows:
RemoteVU Host is compatible with Windows
7, Windows 2008 Server, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2003
Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2000 (Service
pack 4 and above).
RemoteVU (Remote Desktop) for iPad requires iOS 3.2 or later.
RemoteVU (Remote Desktop) for iPhone and iPod touch requires iOS 3.1 or later.
Note: System sound card should
have Stereo Mix or Mono Mix channel for Windows XP/2003/2000.
For Mac:
MAC - Leopard and Snow Leopard (Intel).
RemoteVU (Remote Desktop) for iPad requires iOS 3.2 or later.
RemoteVU (Remote Desktop) for iPhone and iPod touch requires iOS 3.1 or later.

I cannot
hear the sound on my iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch while playing
music / videos remotely from my PC. Why?
In case of a Windows machine this issue may occur due to the following reasons:
- Any external device (speaker/headphone) is enabled or plugged
into the host computer. Unplug or disable the external device
from the host PC to receive sound on your iPhone / iPad / iPod
Touch.
- The sound card of the host PC (with operating system Windows XP/2003/2000) needs to have Stereo mix or Mono mix channel. Follow the steps below to ensure if Stereo mix or Mono mix channel is present in your host computer:
- Right click on ‘Volume’ icon in the tray and choose 'Open Volume Control'
- Click on ‘Options’ and select ‘Properties’ from the ‘Volume Control’
dialog box
- Check ‘Recording’ to see if Stereo Mix or Mono Mix channel is present

Why
am I unable to hear the sound on my iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch
while playing music / videos remotely on my Mac machine?
This may happen if the sound feature is disabled on your Mac
machine. In order to enable the sound feature, you need to install
the SoundFlower
Audio Driver software on your Mac.
To verify the installation go to ‘System Preferences’ and select
the ‘Sound’ option. The SoundFlower audio drivers will be visible
to indicate that the sound feature on your Mac has been enabled.
